Andy has over 30 years of experience with state and local income/franchise taxes focusing in the areas of compliance, planning, mergers & acquisitions, audit defense and tax accounting. He also has extensive experience with sales/use tax and abandoned and unclaimed property. Since joining Grant McCarthy Group, LLC in January 2020, Andy has focused on tax return review, specializing on the state and local tax consequences of Federal Tax Reform, as well as audit defense and client development.
Prior to joining Grant McCarthy Group, LLC, Andy was in charge of state and local taxes for 3 Fortune 500 companies for over 25 years. In these roles, he was responsible for all areas of state and local taxation, including income/franchise tax compliance, audit defense, planning, mergers & acquisitions, sales & use tax compliance and audit defense, personal property tax and abandoned & unclaimed property. In these roles, Andy led the state and local tax team through major divestitures, acquisitions, and most recently, was the tax department representative on the merger team for a merger of equals involving 2 major U.S. Defense Contractors.
Andy was appointed to the Council on State Taxation (“COST”) Board of Directors in 2018 and held that position until he joined Grant McCarthy Group in January 2020. Andy has been actively involved with COST for over 25 years and was an active speaker at their national conferences. He continues to be actively involved with COST in a practitioner role while at Grant McCarthy Group, LLC.
Prior to going to work in industry, he spent several years at Coopers & Lybrand in New York City and Stamford, CT. Andy received his B.S. from Syracuse University and his J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law. He is admitted to the New York and New Jersey State Bars.
